What’s the best news you’ve ever heard? Was it surprising? Did it change the way you think?
Or was it something you wanted to be true but didn’t dare hope?
The word “gospel” literally means “good news.” Christians believe it’s actually the best news. It makes sense of our lives and world, and it offers hope and peace and purpose. And this “good news” is rooted in the person of Jesus Christ.
Christianity Explored is a discussion group that, over the course of 7 sessions, gives people the time and space to think about the big questions of life and to explore the life and teaching of the man at the heart of the Christian faith. It’s a free, informal and relaxed discussion of the Gospel of Mark, one of the books of the Bible, where people can find out who Jesus is, why he came, what it means to follow him, and what difference all of this can make in their lives.
You don’t need to know anything about the Bible. You won’t be asked to read aloud, pray or sing. You can ask any question you want or just listen. Whoever you are, whatever your background or beliefs, Christianity Explored is a place for you to explore who Jesus is and what he taught. It might just be the best news you’ve ever heard.
Participants are welcome to come at 6pm for a meal with a group from Exmouth Anglican Community Church, or to arrive just in time for the study. These groups are informal and anyone is welcome.
Most people have never read Mark’s gospel as an adult, or thought about what Jesus teaches. Our aim is to help people investigate Christianity in a relaxed and accessible way, and we encourage guests to come with all of their questions. We can’t cover everything in just a few weeks, but many people have found the course to be a good introduction to the big issues.

Christianity Explored
Christianity Explored is a seven session discussion group that takes us to the heart of the Christian faith: who Jesus is, why he came and what claim he has upon our lives. In a relaxed setting the course uses one book of the bible, the Gospel of Mark, to unveil the identity, mission and call of Jesus.
Each session there is a video to watch which deals with many of the topics which will arise throughout the course and helps to aid discussion.
To find out more about the course, check out the Christianity Explored website. This excellent website is an easy way for anyone who wants to find out more about the claims and beliefs of Christianity. It has lots of short videos from people who have been on the course that tell you how Jesus has changed their lives and how they ended up on a CE course. It also has videos answering some of the difficult but widely asked questions that people ask about Christianity. Questions such as ‘If there is a God, why does He allow suffering?’ and ‘Aren’t all religions basically the same?’ If you have found yourself asking these questions, or others like them, then why not find out the answers for yourself.
